This piece is finally done ~ I have been working on it since December 2007, off and on, steadily for the past couple of months. Oh, all that is over: the lost pencils, the procrastination, the steady chipping away and mark-making. I never work this large. It has been a very interesting experience.
This is as yet untitled. And is due to drop off for the juried show in 48 hours.

I LOVE this!!! It's just wonderful. The blue, the pattern, the size, the juxtaposition with nature. Made me smile :)
Good luck with the show!
Thank You! i have been working on this piece for WAY too long. i named it "longitude, latitude," and dropped it off before the snow started today. i love the photos too: i loved the idea of taking pics of it cavorting in nature. (which it will never get to do again, since it's paper.) so fun! i felt so self-conscious carting the thing around: and had a narrow escape from a little boy running at it...
I've just found your blog (through etsy) and love it! Thank you - it feels like you are a kindred spirit way over in the East. I'm in Nelson, British Columbia. Congrats on your new baby. And I do love the blue button sculpture! Is it paper mache?

Christine ~ Thank you! :) It is 8 layers of paper mache over a chicken wire armature. It was a fun challenge to do and to finish since I don't normally work that large.
