I think this ever-darkening weather is the pits. Can't wait until Solstice next week when everything will grow brighter, slowly but surely. Brighter as in sunsets at 9pm again, fresh beets in the garden again, the cat sleeping on the outdoor adirondack chairs all night again. Sun tea, breezes through the house, cotton shirts, bare feet, fewer-clothes, walking in creeks, road trips, blankets at the park, using the push-mower, cut garden flowers, grilling, fresh mint, iced drinks again. Sun! As much sun as I could want! Too much sun!
Can't wait, I tell ya.

Yeah, it's pretty dismal here as well. I've lived in the Seattle area most of my life though, so it's a predictable gloom. At least I still enjoy the sound of the rain tapping the roof :)
I read that Seattle actually gets less rainfall than NYC. Is that true? Is the Seattle vibe just cloudcover, then? And is it true that there is both a rainforest and a desert somewhere around the border nearish-by? (nearish as in not Montana.)
I actually love rainy days. Just not too many in a row, I suppose! I need the sunshine to peek through, too.
Not sure how we compare to NYC. We do have about 6 months of gray. It reminds me of that movie Dark City ha ha. Yeah the Olympic National Rain Forest is really close by, but I haven't been there yet! Crazy that I've been all the way to Amsterdam, and haven't even seen our rain forest! And yes, Eastern Washington is completely different--dry and hot hot hot!
I look at it this way, we pay the price by struggling through the gray and the rain...then spring and summer come and we are vastly rewarded.
I have never been to WA or OR, and CA only for a weekend! So sad. I have travelled more overseas than in the US. Did you happen to go to the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam? SOo good. I have plans to return to San Francisco soon and Tim and I have a month road trip planned this summer...except now that I think of it, I want to head to Maine (never been) and New Brunswick...hmmm. Definitely lots of great travel possibilities!
Oh yes! The Van Gogh Museum was a favorite!
