Wow, we've got some music in common! I love My Morning Jacket--Jim James has one of the most gorgeous voices I've ever heard. I saw him at a solo show and instantly cried :) Also, Fleet Foxes, Iron & Wine, and of course Bob Dylan and Neil Young!
How about The Byrds, Gillian Welch, Cat Power, The Sea & Cake, Beirut, Damien Rice, Kings of Convenience, Jeff Buckley, Nick Drake...
I love Jim James. Tim and I have seen him and MMJ in concert many times. We always see Jim James on the sidewalk or something and Tim gets all tonguetied. We're actually going on another road trip next month to catch them in Nashville and at the New Orleans Jazz Festival! (okay, only Tim's going to both: I'm gonna check out New Orleans while he sees them there.)
I know Gillian Welsh and Cat Power but I have to say Tim has played them so much I can't bear it anymore! Jeff Buckley, of course - (sigh) Grace. Nick Drake, yes. (pink pink pink...pink moon!) I want to check out those others.
Do you know Sun Kil Moon, Grizzly Bear, or Band of Horses?
Such beautiful pictures =-)
Wow! You guys are so lucky! I saw My Morning Jacket all together once, and would love to see them again. The solo show was with Bright Eyes--yes I endured Bright Eyes only to see Jim perform :) Did you know It Still Moves was recorded in a grain silo? Oh man.
Sun Kil Moon, oh yes! The tribute album to Modest Mouse is one of my faves. Anything Mark Kozelek touches :) His solo stuff and Red House Painters...all wonderful. I've heard of the other bands, but will definitely have to check them out on iTunes.
I could (and do, obviously) go on and on about music!!
Hope you have a great weekend!
Thanks xoxoKrysten - I had such fun running around with my cameras!
Lost Earring: this is too funny cause I really can't stand Bright Eyes either. I have to admit that I just realized Tim and I might be MMJ groupies...we flew to Louisville to hear them play there - that grain silo is around there somewhere and I was thinking about it! And we once took a night bus (10 hours from hell) from London to hear them in Edinburgh and had to make friends with the bouncer to get tickets cause it was sold out when we got there...ahem. Sigh. Jim James. Hmmn. Now I'm all excited for Nashville!
Happy weekending to you!
