I can't remember how I came across your blog, but I love it! As a 52 year old nurse, and a thrift store fan, traveler, reader I find myself checking in, just to remind myself to grab my camera and my dogs and go out and enjoy and appreciate the simple joys of life. I even took my niece to dinner this week at one of your favorite spots - Cafette. I have been meaning to try for years. Loved it! (vegetable stir fry and fab carrot/ginger soup).
jill ~ I was a little surprised but it was sweet. We're lucky ot have nice neighbors. :)
kristen ~ thank you :)
kelly ~ that is so great that you finally tried Cafette! I am so glad you told me about it :) thank you for your kind comment; it's also an encouragement to me that other people value these things too: a slower life, the simple things. (dogs, the outdoors, thrifting :)
ps have you tried the New Life thrift shop? It's on Easton Rd. in Abington...
Hi Brooke, Having moved from Jenkintown to Manayunk over 10 years ago, I am still out that way now and then and try to hit that thrift store - it is a good one. I hit the Pechin Street Salvation Army frequently. I am addicted to "thrifting" treasure hunts. Another great day. Off to Fairmount Park with my four legged boys. Thanks, Kelly
What a neighborly neighbor you have! Your story made me think of this installation I saw at the ICA in Boston a few years ago. It really caught me off guard, it totally filled the room and was playful & gorgeous. Then I read the title. :) http://www.artnet.com/artwork/425543769/140558/sun-sneezers-blow-light-bubbles.html
Kelly, goodness I totally thought I got back to you on this. (oops)
I have hit the Salvation Army there but often forget about it. I am so addicted to thrifting treasure hunts too! Once in a while I head to Manayunk for those two Indian/Nepalese shops filled with fun clothes and beautiful scarves. There are so many fun areas around here. :)

Ironic and sweet of your neighbor! I'm reminded of Bridgit Fonda in Singles when she says she prefers bless you because it's nicer :)
that's a good story. :)
