Oh, the photo of the hedgehog is so cute! And it reminds me how hedgehogs were a part of my childhood. Hot summer days spent playing and exploring with my sisters in my grandmother's wild garden faded to dusky, warm evenings and we waited impatiently for the rustling in the dry weeds announcing the hedgehogs. My grandmother would place small bowls of cat food near the terrace where we sat as quietly as possible and held our breath while watching the hedgehogs eat before they vanished again between the ferns.
Since than I dream of owning such a garden, so I understand very well your joy planning your garden for spring and summer. Your photos of the garden are so very beautiful and make me long for the sun (that has disappeared again behind mountains of grey clouds) and summer.

During the carnival I was disguised as a pirate, a disguise which is very popular since the "Pirates of the Caribbean" movies. The carnival in my region has to sides - the street carnival with parades and a more organised carnival with sessions during which people make fun of for example local politicians. While there are no traditional costumes for the carnival on the street, the session carnival is lead by people in fake uniforms as it dates back to the time when the people here didn't like being ruled by Napoleon.

Oh, I hope that were not to many uninteresting details about carnival. But I think it is hard to explain it to people who haven't grown up with it. :)

That is a gorgeous one piece :~)
The little kitten is just too sweet ~
A lady I used to bellydance with has a hedghog hospital ~ Pembrokeshire Hogspital ~ and we were so excited last summer when one decided to live in our garden...hope it does again this year :~)
Lucy is so funny :~)))
Your garden is so lovely...love, love, love, the mandala you made too....and you made me realise that I do not have a garden set on Flickr..I am going to enjoy that so much...thank you Brooke for sharing your happiness.

Stefanie ~ Oh, I love your hedgehog story. That would be such an experience to watch them rustling from the weeds. Thank you about the garden, we really enjoy it and have big plans for this year, trying to grow a few more things than usual. We also need to build new trellises. When warmer days are here, I'll be out there working! Carnival sounds fun, kind of like a cross between our Halloween and Mardi Gras, (or Italy's Carnevale) but with political overtones: that is very interesting that some of the outfits/portions of the carnival date back to Napoleon's rule!

Helen ~ I've just been reading Farmama again on a regular basis and she is so inspiring for me. :) I ordered a one piece for a trip to Florida next month for Tim's cousin's wedding. I am enamored with hedgehogs. Lucy is so funny. :) And I would love to look through your garden pics ~ if you post them on flickr, let me know! I sorely need to update mine. :) Our hops are sprouted!
