dinner is so much better after gardening

~ view from the studio porch ~

Thank you for all your compliments about the kitchen! We have done our fair share of gasping too as one by one everything came together. Wanting to have a hand in things, we found our sink on Craigslist (about 2 years ago: it's for an RV!), treated the wood counters ourselves, and painted the walls, cabinets and baseboards ourselves too. The main element was to be the arch ~ I am so pleased with how it turned out. With how everything turned out.

Might I add that Tim designed the kitchen layout. This whole thing was really his baby.

Today's warm stillness drew me out into the garden where I planted collards, spinach, turnips and lettuce. A lot is sprouting up ~ chamomile, fennel, chives, and the garlic that I brought back from Seattle and planted in the fall. I love coming in from the garden, scratched and dusty, showering, putting on fresh clothes and getting some dinner together. Now we actually have room to spread out!

I think I'll make biscuits.

beautiful kitchen- what is better is that you can cook your heart away now! I am anxious to have a true backyard garden, until then I can imagine yours and how beautiful it is :) Have fun making biscuits!

Hey Brooke,
I've posted some pictures of driftwood we've used, on my blog.

I will check out my stash to see if I have any suitable ones I could send you.

I was thinking of you these last few days as I planted seeds of lettuce, cucumber and basil in the greenhouse on Wednesday, dug-in the horse manure to one of the beds yesterday, and like you, was lured outside all day today by the warm, sunny weather and weeded my herb bed, pruned some hibi bushes, dug over another bed and planned out where to put two more beds :~)

Love that you both were so hands on in creating your beautiful kitchen...and I take my hat off to Tim for his great design :~)

Oh! I bought walnut oil this week, but have been too busy outside to make the wood polish yet...

Elizabeth ~ It's so fun. You should come visit it! And me. Let me know for sure if you are ever over on this coast, eh?

Keia ~ thanks :) It's so much roomier for mixing and baking now.

Helen ~ I LOVE your driftwood kitchen!!!! I collect horse manure too, at our local park on the trails. :) And I make manure tea with it to water everything. We are going to try to fit a lot more veggies into our garden this year. Our lawn is already the size of a hankerchief and is about to get smaller...
