Hmm... The strawberry cake looks absolutely delicious! Here the time for strawberries is mostly over, but there are so many other tasty summer fruits that I'm not to unhappy. I'm looking for the weekend when I will climb the old cherry tree in my friend's garden and pick as many cherries as I like - and no one will complain when more fruits find their way in my mouth than into the basket. :-)
Waiting hopefully for the first strawberries here, they're s l o w l y ripening. Your turnips look great too! Really healthy. Thinking about the time when you might have more land and I can live vicariously through you ;) And your jumper of course. I love the mug too. Happy Wednesday!
Brooke, I'm so pleased to have found your blog. It's dreamy to look at. That pie, I feel like I've seen it before, like I know the recipe. Is it from The Zuni Cafe Cookbook or Good to the Grain (Kim Boyce). Anyway, looks divine. Great to be reading.
stefanie ~ wow, I would love to be climbing a cherry tree!! I adore fresh cherries and they are pricey!
fiona ~ It's my first attempt at turnips and we have yet to taste them ~ I'm going to mash some tonight. I can't wait to try more things some day...
sherri lynn ~ thank you so much for letting me know. :) Much appreciated!
alfie ~ thank you!
brigette ~ :) x
the good soup ~ thank you! the rustic strawberry tart is just something I made up: it's quite simple: a pie-crust and sliced strawberries, cinnamon, nutmeg and brown sugar baked at 400*F until it smells and looks done. You could probably use about any fruit.
Oh, yay. I was just going to ask if you used the pie crust recipe I saw on Flickr to make the crust for the (what I thought was a) galette. :) It looks easier than an actual pie crust - and still very delicious.
