I made a perfect little person, somehow

20 weeks

banjo's foot, 20 weeks
his little foot

It was so much fun to see banjo scooting around this afternoon, with all his perfect bones in place, and his little hands and feet waving around. We saw his heart chambers, his esophagus, his smile, the lobes of his brain, and his perfect chain of a spine.

And we unmistakably saw that he is a boy. I was very surprised.

And we are very happy. To celebrate, tim and I went for a hike on hawk mountain and watched the rosy skies and sat on the green licheny rocks and counted strings of geese in V's a half-mile long. I drove us home while the sun set in a great coral round between the dark miles of trees, and by the time we arrived, the full moon was up, pearly and ancient.

Getting to see your baby via ultrasound was one of my very favorite parts of being pregnant.

And a boy?!! Congratulations! I kind of have a special place in my heart for boys. ;)

Oh wonderful!!! Either way it would be wonderful. I had a boy first, and he is the light of his little sister's eyes, a ball of energy and fire, his father's shadow and my cuddlebug. So excited for you both.
And you are so right, nature's design is utterly beautiful in every way...

My auntie said last night, maybe around the time you had your scan, that the knitting was perfect for a little man. I was trying to make it unisex, but you know how these things go, sometimes the making decides for you. So I'm so pleased :)

Oh wow, what a special moment! Isn't it incredible how detailed you can see all the organs and bones and everything?
Congratulations on being halfway there and enjoy the coming 20 weeks!

barbara :: one of those things you can't plan, right? tim is already mentioning the girl we'll probably have 'next time...' :)

brit :: yay! xo

cortnie :: It was really special. Much longer than our first ultrasound, and so much to see. They kept scooting out of the picture. So sweet! x

hailey :: I was thinking it was a girl, and was so excited to teach her all the things I know too ~ canoeing, hiking, camping, all my power tools, baking, gardening, making things. But I can do all that with a boy too and now it seems so normal that they are a boy. We are happy. :) And you will have one of both!! That's great. :)

mariella :: yes, well put! Just lay back and prepare to have your mind blown. I couldn't believe that all the meals I had been eating made that little backbone and all those perfect fingers! Magic!

brigitta :: !!!! xo

denise :: thank you!

mj :: so sweet, thank you! :) we are thrilled.

alfie :: he is so perfect. we love him. :) fingers crossed for red hair!

fiona :: I can't WAIT to see what you're making :)

kristen :: thank you!

katarina :: yes. :)

langsam leben :: I knew we would but still wasn't prepared for how much detail there was. Amazing. Thank you and I will!

mama smith :: I think so! thank you. :)
