brown paper packages

brown paper packages

I love mail.

I love mail.

One of the fun things about expecting a baby is, you might have guessed, the fun little things I make for him. Another delight is the special things friends make. In this morning's mailbox I found a brown paper package with amazing little presents inside, including the softest hand-knitted sweater for 'banjo,' due in about a month. How incredibly special it was to open this and see all the tiny stitches!

We thank you from the bottom of our hearts, F.

What a beautiful sweater! As a knitter I might be enormously biased, but I don't think there's anything as lovely as receiving a handmade baby gift.

Oh what a great handmade sweater. I just think those are the coolest buttons. Best of luck to you!

My oldest friend and my partner's brother are both expecting babies shortly too (and there's Luisa, The Wednesday Chef), I feel like there are expectant mothers everywhere I look! It's all been putting me in mind of baby toys and clothes to make but this post pushed me over the top. I love that stockinette stitch, so simple, perfect for baby.

It was my pleasure, my dear.

For interested knitters, the pattern in Elizabeth Zimmermann's tomten jacket.
