the first few days

celebrate

We sat. We exhaled.
We cooked, baked, sipped.
We had a friend come help break in the kitchen.
Tim refinished some of the original farmhouse floors.
My mom gardened and painted.
We unpacked boxes
and wrote great lists
and I tried not to lift things
and took a bath every evening
and scrubbed every inch of the bathroom tiles till they gleamed.
We decided where things go
and what are the most important items to do first
and we sorted
and slowly,
s l o w l y
and sometimes quickly
we are getting things done.

I love our local hardware store,
and the incredible farmers market,
the whole foods store and plant nurseries
and the signs for fresh eggs
(that sign for 'Emily's Eggs' ~ is Emily the owner, or the chicken?)
and all the farms to buy hormone-free meat and milk.
The daily hummingbird, the honeysuckle-scented trails at the lake 3 miles away,

So exciting for you, I'm sure! I love all the hustle and bustle getting into a new place, exhausting though it is. Take care of yourself! The house is beautiful.

Oh, enjoy these days! As much as there always is so much to do (and so much to stress about) in a move I have always loved those early days.

Cheers,
Karen
