Awoke at 5am today, as I seem to keep doing. I stayed awake with the cat curled against my knee, listening to the birds wake up and watching fog roll in over the trees in the front yard. Another full day today, and it's going to be good.
I got my local library card this week, and don't feel so strange anymore as I have been feeling without a stack of books and audiobooks to peruse at home. I always wondered what it would be like to just stop reading for a week or two, to see what came up. It's not something I want to try again anytime soon.

get lost in a tall and towering stacks of books.
soak up the beauty of the written word.
hahahaha yeah...suuure. i once tried to read only one book at a time, which was about as successful as your experiment.
Your morning sounds lovely. Nothing like reading with a cat warming you up. It's interesting how you write about the hunger for the written word to be a strong presence in your life. For the first time in months I have not got a bookmarked novel by my bed and I feel quite empty. I am probably in a bit of a rut. But to keep me going I am trying to read a non-fiction art theory book. It's quite dry although the subject matter is interesting. It's not the best feeling to be without a page-turning novel.
when i was 8 months pregnant i woke up at 5 am every single day like clock work!
I love the book On Rue Tatin! I saw the author speak in Santa Cruz once. Did you know she has a cookbook out as well? I remember the days of late pregnancy, I read voraciously! Would love to hear about other reading!
