the hurricane week

in the making

Projects attempted in our slowly chilling kitchen before we left for my parent's house ~ with wool blankets pinned up over the doorways and the generator running a space heater while everything in the fridge was lost. We slept with the heater on but Cedar was still cold when I nursed him in the night. We packed up the dogs and headed to my parent's. Downed wires and trees were everywhere on the way down. A few of our neighbor's houses had trees on them.

Sleeping in the guest room at my parent's house. He slept 8 hours in a row the first night, 9 hours in a row the second night, and then woke up every 2 hours the third. What gives?

found his feet

Warm enough for bare feet! Which is good, since this fellow can't get enough of his toes these days.

And home again. It is so wonderful to have electricity once more.
